Formal identification has yet to take place, but the family of the missing 40-year-old has been informed.

A body has been found in Dundee in the search for missing man Ryan Finnegan.

The discovery was made by officers near South Road in the city at around 8.45pm on Saturday January 10, 2026.

Formal identification has yet to take place, but the 40-year-old’s family has been informed. The death is being treated as unexplained.

Ryan had not been seen by his relatives in over a month.

He was last seen by his family on Balgarthno Road in Charleston during the first week of December 2025 and was reported missing on January 2.

Police say enquiries are ongoing.

A police statement read: “Around 8.45pm on Saturday, 10 January, 2026, the body of a man was found by officers near South Road, Dundee.

“Formal identification has yet to take place, but the family of Ryan Finnegan, who was reported missing, has been informed.

“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
