A body found on a beach in Orkney is believed to be that of a man who went missing 80 miles away more than two weeks ago.
Alan Murray was last seen in the Seatown area of Cullen, Moray, at around 11.30pm on Saturday, February 26.
On Tuesday, police said a body had been found on a beach near to Northfield Road in Burray, Orkney – approximately 80 miles from Cullen.
Formal identification is yet to take place, however, the 54-year-old’s family has been informed of the discovery.
A police spokesperson said: “Around 9.10am on Tuesday, March 14, the body of a man was discovered on the beach near to Northfield Road, Burray, Orkney.
“Formal identification has still to take place however the family of Alan James Murray, 54, from Cullen, who has been missing since February 26, has been informed of the discovery.
“There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.”
