Police have confirmed an elderly man has been found dead in a river in Aberdeenshire on Christmas Day.
The body of the 81-year-old was pulled from the River Deveron after ambulance and coastguard teams were called to the scene in Huntly.
Officers cordoned off the area shortly after 9.30am, but say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
The man’s family has been informed.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.30am on Sunday, December 25, the body of an 81-year-old man was recovered from the River Deveron, Huntly.
“His family are aware and there are no suspicious circumstances. A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
