Body of man discovered on shoreline as police launch inquiry

Officers, alongside lifeboat crews, recovered the body of a man on a shoreline near Cove on Tuesday afternoon.

A police inquiry has been launched after the body of a man was discovered on a shoreline in Aberdeen.

Emergency services, alongside the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, were called to a shore near Cove at around 12.45pm on Tuesday.

The body of a man was recovered.

Officers confirmed that enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the discovery remain ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of the body of a man found at the shore near to Cove in Aberdeen around 12.45pm on Tuesday, May 9.

“The man was recovered with the assistance of the RNLI. His identity has yet to be confirmed and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances.”
