Boy, 12, charged over alleged sexual assault of eight-year-old girl

A 12-year-old boy has been charged after an eight-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted at an Aberdeenshire play park.

Police were alerted to the incident in the Duff Street area of MacDuff on Monday, August 10.

A 12-year-old boy has now been arrested and charged in connection with the alleged attack.

A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 12-year-old male youth has been arrested and charged in connection with the sexual assault of an 8-year-old girl in the Duff Street area of Macduff on Monday, August 10, 2026.

“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
