Brewdog has closed six bars less than a week after opening a London mega-pub in response to soaring energy costs.
The controversial Aberdeenshire-based brewer announced premises in Aberdeen, Motherwell and Peterhead would close their doors alongside three other outlets in the English capital.
All staff affected by the closures have been offered and have accepted alternative roles in other Brewdog locations, management said.
The firm blamed “rapidly increasing costs” for the decision.
The Hop and Anchor in Aberdeen, Hop Hub in Motherwell and Brewdog Peterhead are among the locations to close.
Three others in London have shut their doors after the giant Waterloo location boasting a slide, duckpin bowling and a podcast studio alongside capacity for around 1,800 patrons opened last week.
Outlets in Dalston, Old Street and the Smithfield Market Arms in Finsbury will also shut as part of the “portfolio review”.
Brewdog currently operates 128 bars across the globe, with 18 further openings in Brisbane, Las Vegas and Northern India planned in the coming months.
A spokesperson for the brewer said: “All staff have accepted roles in other Brewdog locations. There will be no job losses.
“This is part of the regular review of our portfolio. With rapidly increasing costs including spiralling energy bills the bar was a substantial distance from being viable to operate.”
