Pet owners have been warned to be on alert after two cats were shot with a pellet gun in a village near Aberdeen.

A six-month old kitten was left seriously injured after it was targeted in Bucksburn.

The pet, from the area’s Sclattie Park, was taken to vets on Sunday and an entry wound, believed to be caused by a pellet gun, was found following an examination.

It is believed to be the second cat left injured in the area in recent weeks.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “On Sunday police received a report that a cat had been injured after being shot by a pellet gun in the area of Sclattie Park, Bucksburn. Enquiries are ongoing into this matter.

The owner of the injured kitten said: “Our Kitten, only six months old, had to be taken to the vet as he was in pain, on examination he had an entry wound.

“The vet has just informed us he’s been shot with a pellet gun.

“We’re in Sclattie Park just behind the chipper and he’s not ventured very far, keep your cats safe.”

A statement from Fubar News Lost and Found Pets said: “This is now the second cat in Bucksburn that has been seriously injured.

“If anyone has any information who has this gun and is shooting these cats please contact 101.”
