A mental health support group in Dundee is offering video chats, as it warns some people could reach “crisis point” during the coronavirus pandemic.
Feeling Strong says self isolation measures are fuelling anxiety and stress among the vulnerable.
The charity, which works with young people, has had to cancel face-to-face sessions, so has switched its peer support service online.
“As people have to stay at home more and more we’ll see them presenting with problems, maybe even reaching crisis point because they’ve not got access to their usual day to day activities, or potentially their peer support networks,” said the charity’s Brook Marshall.

“We think we need to provide alternative support for them now more than ever.
“A lot of the issues we’re seeing are around anxiety. People with OCD for instance have been having problems processing what is going on and people who have long-standing issues like depression or low mood are struggling because of the self isolation.
“By maintaining our peer support service online we can signpost them to other services at this crucial time.”
The group is also providing care packs of food and toiletries for people of all ages who’re self-isolating due to coronavirus symptoms.
“I was working for Feeling Strong as part of their cooking project but because of COVID-19 that had to be cancelled so this is me trying to help out,” said volunteer Rachael Lindsay.
“Another youth group I’m involved with has also been asking people in their communities what help they need. I think young people are doing their bit as much as they can.”
