A climber has been airlifted from a cliff edge as part of a late-night rescue in Aberdeenshire.
RNLI Montrose was called by the Coastguard to help a person who had accidentally gotten into difficulty on the St Cyrus cliffs around 11.50pm on Thursday.
Lifeboat crews, alongside the Coastguard, located the person around 40ft from the ground.
A Coastguard officer was also to descend from the cliff to the edge to reach the casualty and bring them safely to the foot of the cliffs.
A Search and Rescue helicopter was dispatched to the scene from Inverness before the casualty was winched from the foot of the cliffs.
The helicopter landed in a nearby field, and the person was passed over to emergency services for further care.
A spokesperson for RNLI Montrose said: “Both Montrose lifeboats remained at the scene providing safety cover until all emergency service personnel had returned to the top of the cliffs and safely retrieved all their rescue gear.”
The lifeboats stood down around 1.13am.
