A community growing project in Aberdeen is looking for more farmers to help them provide fresh produce for local food banks and larders.
One Seed Forward has grown 78,000kg worth of food since launching six years ago, helping to feed families across the city.
Now chiefs are urging farmers to help them expand and help people in need following a successful pilot.
Charity organiser Bob Donald said: “We’re after a farmer or a small holder to help us expand the project.
“What we would do is give them some seeds and volunteers to help with the planting and the harvesting.
“It’s just to get some additional space that may be going barren so we can get food out to those who need it.”
The charity’s aim is to encourage more people to grow their own produce.
Since 2017 they’ve provided seeds and seedlings to those in their community, food banks and larders around Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.
The food from the charity’s farm project has gone to The Larder, Portlethen in Aberdeenshire.
Around 100 people come through its doors every week and fresh produce is a welcome addition.
Anne Boyle helps to run the organisation.
She said: “Getting fresh produce is really important, because in the supermarkets they can be the most expensive items for people to buy, so many don’t.
“We often run out of potatoes and then we have to buy them in, along with carrots, eggs and milk, so anything like that that could be donated would be great.”
