An urgent appeal has been launched to trace a missing man from Aberdeen as concern grows for his safety.

Police issued a public appeal to trace Andrew Mackenzie how was last seen in the Westburn Road area of the city.

The 54-year-old was reported missing around 1pm on Monday.

He is described as white, 6 foot tall, of broad build, with short grey hair.  He was wearing a grey jumper and black jogging-style trousers.

He is no longer said to have the beard in the photograph provided by police.

In a statement officers said: “Police are searching the area around Westburn Road, Foresterhill Road and North Anderson Drive  and also checking local CCTV and with local taxi and bus companies in an effort to trace him and would ask that people have a look for him in the area too.

“If you have any information as to his whereabouts, please call police via 101 quoting reference number 1576 of January 2.”
