An area outside President Donald Trump’s Aberdeenshire golf course remains cordoned off as military bomb squads continue checks on a vehicle.
A cordon was initially set up outside the Menie Estate shortly after 3pm for checks to be carried out on a vehicle.
Members of the media at Trump International Golf Links waiting to leave were taken back behind a police barrier to wait for an hour.
A Royal Navy bomb disposal unit was already on the scene as part of the wider security operation in place for the President’s visit.
Police Scotland said a search of the suspect vehicle was completed and nothing criminal was found.
Further checks were carried out by military personnel, resulting in the cordon remaining in place.
Police said on Tuesday evening cordons were in the process of being lifted.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We have been advised by military colleagues in EOD that further searches of the vehicle have now been completed.
“There is no risk and cordons are in the process of being lifted. It was a false alarm with good intent.”
