The number of confirmed coronavirus cases linked to an additional support needs school has risen to 31.
Last Tuesday, NHS Tayside’s health protection team was made aware of a single positive case connected to Kingspark School in Dundee.
One week on, the health board stated the cluster had now reached 31 – made up of 21 members of staff, two pupils and eight community contacts.
A single positive case has been linked to the primary 2A class at St Peter and Paul’s School in the city, whilst another two have been linked to Happy Times out-of-school club at Downfield Primary School.
Kingspark School, which was closed last Wednesday for a deep clean, remains shut and all staff and pupils continue to self-isolate as previously advised.
Meanwhile, NHS Tayside confirmed a pupil at Grove Academy in Broughty Ferry has tested positive for Covid-19.
A small number of staff and students have been ordered to self-isolate until September 5.
Dr Ellie Hothersall, chair of the Incident Management Team (IMT), said: “Pupils and parents of the wider school population have been reassured that if they have not been contacted individually, they or their child have not been identified as a contact of a case.
“They can continue to attend school and undertake other activities as normal.
“Risk assessments are being carried out, however, parents should be assured that all appropriate precautions are in place and the school remains open.”
