A film and TV costume designer has donated scrubs used in the filming of shows such as Rebus to staff at Perth Royal Infirmary.
It all came about when Jan Morritt was chatting to a friend whose daughter works at the hospital.
When she heard of the increased need for doctors’ scrubs, it got her wondering if her daughter could help.
Ms Morritt, from Perth, got in touch with her costume designer daughter Gill Horn, who is based in Glasgow.
Ms Horn has worked in the costume departments of Liverpool Empire Theatre, BBC, Granada TV, Mersey TV and STV.
She now works as a costume designer for both period and contemporary film and television drama productions.
Ms Horn was happy for her mum to raid her Perth store for any NHS equipment and scrubs.
She said: “My passion is to create real people, wearing appropriate and believable clothing. Over the years I’ve collected pieces I think are interesting, unusual or authentic just in case they may be useful one day.
“So, they’ve gone off to the frontline to assist the wonderful NHS instead, which rather pleases me.”
Her mum added: “She uses real equipment and bought the scrubs directly from a hospital A&E doctor.
“I filled bags with hundreds of gloves, face masks and ten sets of scrubs and left them on my doorstep for my friend to collect for her daughter.”
Staff at Perth Royal Infirmary were delighted with the gift.
Ms Morritt said: “The doctors are really chuffed they are wearing something that has been on TV.”
The scrubs have been worn on TV shows such as Rebus and Elizabeth is Missing, which starred Glenda Jackson.
More recently, the scrubs were worn for the filming of The Last Bus, starring Timothy Spall, yet to be released at the cinema.
The Scottish Government has encouraged any NHS staff concerned about supplies of PPE to email them directly.
