The First Minister has revealed 165 coronavirus cases in Aberdeen are believed to be part of the ongoing outbreak in the city.
At Tuesday’s briefing, Nicola Sturgeon said 875 contacts have been identified in relation to the outbreak.
She added that this does not necessarily mean there are 875 people to be traced, as contacts are expected to overlap.
It follows the city experiencing its first weekend in lockdown after a cluster of cases broke out in bars and restaurants.
Eight Aberdeen FC players were reprimanded by the First Minister after they gathered in a bar in the city, leading to two of them testing positive for the virus and six others having to self-isolate.
Ms Sturgeon said the rate of increase of the virus in Aberdeen was slowing down but the Scottish Government “remains very vigilant”.
It is likely more cases and contacts will be identified as part of the outbreak in the next few days, she added.
A review is due on Wednesday on whether the extra measures, which include the closure of bars and restaurants, will be lifted.
