An offshore supply vessel that was detained at Aberdeen Harbour more than three weeks ago amid concern over crew welfare has now been released.
Ben Nevis was detained on October 5 and was prohibited from leaving the port until an inspection was carried out.
On Friday, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) boarded the vessel again after “receiving evidence that the problems that led to the detention had been put right”.
A MCA spokesperson confirmed: “The Ben Nevis has been released from detention by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, after the owners paid their crew and repatriated those who needed to go home.”
The MCA previously said it had taken action as the Port State Control authority for the UK.
The detention was said to be a “preventative measure” in line with UK regulations to allow for a full inspection of the ship related to the Maritime Labour Convention.
Operator Global Offshore previously told STV News it was cooperating with the investigation and stressed that the crew’s wages were paid up-to-date.
