A dog and her owner had to be rescued after becoming cut off by the rising tide while walking on the shoreline in Angus.
Montrose RNLI was called to help following reports of a person and a dog stranded north of Lunan Bay after the tide had come in around 2pm on Tuesday.
The woman, who was visiting the Montrose area, had been collecting agates along the shoreline when she realised the rising tide had cut off her route back.
RNLIAfter contacting the Coastguard, the RNLI volunteer rescue crew was sent to find the French bulldog and her owner.
The lifeboat crew safely transferred both to a safe location at Lunan Bay beach, where HM Coastguard officers were waiting
Helm Calum Moir said: “Thankfully, this was a straightforward rescue and a happy outcome for everyone involved. The casualty recognised that she had become cut off by the tide and called HM Coastguard early, which was absolutely the right thing to do.
“Tides can rise surprisingly quickly and can leave people stranded before they realise it. If you ever find yourself in difficulty on the coast, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard as soon as possible.”
