Dog walker seriously injured in hospital and pet hurt after being hit by car

The incident involved a white Mercedes A200 car, a 64-year-old male pedestrian and a dog.

A man has suffered serious injuries, and a dog has been hurt after being hit by a car in Fife.

The 64-year-old man was walking his dog on Leuchatsbeath Drive in Cowdenbeath around 6.35pm on Thursday before they were hit by a white Mercedes A200 car.

The pedestrian was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with serious injuries, where he remains.

The dog sustained minor injuries.

The road was closed for over six hours to allow for investigation before reopening around 1am on Friday.

Sergeant Tom Aitken, from the Glenrothes Road Policing Unit, said: “Enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this incident are ongoing and we’d like to thank those in the local community who have spoken with officers so far.

“We continue to appeal for anyone with information, or who may have been in the area around the time of the incident, to please come forward.

“You can call police on 101, quoting incident 3097 of November 14, 2024.”
