Driver dies and woman taken to hospital after Dundee crash as police launch appeal

A driver has died and a woman has been taken to hospital following a crash in Dundee.

The incident happened around 8.10am on Friday, September 11 between Strathmore Street and Clepington Road and involved a silver Hyundai IX35.

Emergency services attended and the 69-year-old driver was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The passenger, a 63-year-old woman, was taken to hospital to be checked over.

The road was closed for crash investigation work and re-opened around 12.15pm.

Police are appealing for witnesses.

Sergeant Brian McEwen said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who died and they have asked for privacy at what is a very difficult time for them.

“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and I am appealing to anyone who saw what happened and has not already spoken to officers to get in touch.

“If you were driving in the area at the time please also check any dash-cam footage and contact us if something that could assist with our investigation has been captured.”
