A man is in a critical condition following a one-car crash which sparked a mass emergency response in Aberdeenshire.
Crews were called to the scene on Meethill Road in Peterhead, at around 11.10am on Wednesday.
The 78-year-old driver was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by ambulance where staff say he is fighting for his life.
No other injuries have been reported.
Eyewitnesses told how multiple police cars, ambulances and air ambulance were deployed to deal with the crash.
STV News understands that fire crews were also mobilised to “assist with making the vehicle safe”.
The Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS) dispatched two ambulances including a special operations team and a trauma team, while Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance was also scrambled.
Police Scotland has said they are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
Road Policing Sergeant Steve Manson said: “Our enquiries into the crash are ongoing and we are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash, who has not already spoken to police, to contact us.
“I would also appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time and saw the vehicle prior to the incident or who has dash-cam footage which may assist to get in touch.”

An SAS spokesperson added: “We received a call at 11.15am to attend a road traffic collision on Meethill Road, Peterhead.
“We dispatched two ambulances, the special operations team, the trauma team and the helimed. The male patient was transported by road to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.”
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 11.17am on Wednesday, August 17 to reports of a road traffic collision involving one car on Meethill Road, Peterhead.
“Operations Control mobilised one appliance to support the emergency services on the scene.
“One male casualty was placed into the care of paramedics.
“The crew ensured the area was safe before leaving.”
