Drugs worth almost £1m seized in raids with two men charged

Drugs with an estimated street value of around £945,000 have been seized by police following a series of intelligence led searches in Tayside.

A van was stopped by police in Mackintosh Patrick Drive in Monifieth on Thursday, September 7, and quantities of diazepam, cocaine and a three-figure sum of cash were recovered.

A car, on Lorimer Street in Dundee, was also searched and a five-figure sum of cash was recovered.

Drug search warrants were carried out at properties on Lorimer Street and Ballindean Road in the city where quantities of heroin, cocaine and cannabis were recovered.

Two men, aged 43 and 23, have been arrested and charged in connection and are due to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court on Friday, September, 8.

Detective inspector Julia Ogilvie from the organised crime and counter terrorism unit in Dundee said: “This operation underlines our commitment to the serious organised crime taskforce and the country’s serious organised crime strategy.

“We are committed to disrupting the illegal and harmful supply of drugs in our communities.
