Dundee captain Charlie Adam has been charged in connection with suspected drink-driving.
The former Liverpool, Rangers and Scotland midfielder is alleged to have hit a tree in the early hours of Monday morning.
Adam was arrested and charged in connection with the incident, which allegedly took place on the road between Dundee city centre and Broughty Ferry.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Shortly after 4.25 am on Monday, 13 December 2021 a 36-year-old man was arrested and charged for a road traffic offence in Dundee Road West, Dundee.
“A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
Dundee travel to Easter Road for a Premiership clash against Hibernian on Tuesday evening.
Adam won’t feature as the club is still awaiting the results of a scan on an injury that forced him off in Saturday’s 3-2 defeat at Ross County.
A Dundee spokesperson said: “We are aware of the incident but will be making no further comment.”
