A Dundee hall of fame is shining a light on some of the city’s iconic stage performers.
Michael Marra, better known as The Bard of Lochee, and the Average White Band with their funk and soul hits, are some of the stars to feature.
Dundee Music History Group are behind the project which sees more than 70 musicians, bands and star-studded venues carved into granite, outside the Overgate Shopping Centre.
Jake McDonough, chairman of the group, said: “We decided to do a Dundee Music Walk of Fame, like the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“The idea was not just to remember the musicians that made it; we were looking for local celebrities and local musician, guys that played in the shadow as I’d call it, and local clubs and pubs.”
A crowdfunding campaign helped raise more than £2000, with names specially chosen by the music history group.
It’s hoped the new hall of fame will become a hotspot for buskers to perform.
“This is a great initiative for Dundee,” said Overgate centre manager, Malcolm Angus.
He added: “There are people passing, looking at the slabs, names and bands.
“The more of an attraction we can make it, the more it will boost footfall and people coming into the city centre.”
Mr McDonough and the team now plan to continue fundraising, adding more names to the hall of fame, and helping to keep the memories of Dundee’s music legends alive.
