Elderly man fighting for life after crash involving car and lorry

The driver of the lorry was uninjured and the road was re-opened around 11.50pm on Thursday.

An elderly man is in a critical condition in hospital following a crash involving a car and a lorry on the A977 in Perth and Kinross.

Emergency services attended the crash near Blairingone around 5pm on Thursday, September 19, which involved a red Ford Fiesta and a white DAF lorry.

An 85-year-old man, the driver of the car, was taken to the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh where he remains in critical condition.

The driver of the lorry was uninjured and the road was re-opened around 11.50pm on Thursday.

Inspector Andrew Thomson said: “Our enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing for anyone witnessed the crash or believes they saw either of the vehicles involved beforehand, to please get in touch.

“I would also urge anyone with dash-cam footage that could help with our investigation to contact us.”

Anyone who can assist is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2752 of Thursday, September 19.
