A search and rescue mission has been launched after a bodyboarder got into difficulty in Aberdeenshire.
Crews from HM Coastguard, Police Scotland, and the RNLI were called to the scene on Thursday following reports of a bodyboarder getting into difficulty in water off Fraserburgh.
It comes in the wake of Storm Gerrit that battered the country with wind, rain and snow causing widespread disruption.
Fraserburgh and Peterhead Coastguard rescue teams, an RNLI lifeboat, a HM Coastguard helicopter and a helicopter from the oil and gas industry have been scrambled as part of the effort.
The search remains ongoing at this time.
A spokesperson for the coastguard said: “HM Coastguard is coordinating the response after receiving a report of a bodyboarder possibly being in difficulty off Fraserburgh.
“Fraserburgh and Peterhead coastguard rescue teams and Fraserburgh RNLI lifeboat have both been sent along with a HM Coastguard helicopter and a helicopter from the oil and gas industry. Police Scotland are also in attendance.
“The search is ongoing and we have no further information.”
Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
