A “devastated” family has launched a fundraiser for their son after he was diagnosed with an inoperable form of brain cancer following months of debilitating headaches.
Jordan Kearney, 22, was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary after a 4cm mass was discovered during an appointment at an opticians in June.
An emergency biopsy was performed and the student from Peterhead was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme – leaving his parents Maria and Damian “devastated”.
Due to its location, the tumour has been deemed inoperable, and Jordan is now undergoing chemo-radiotherapy as his family search for alternative treatments.
So far, the GoFundMe page has raised just under £15,000.
His family have appealed for donations as they aim to reach their goal of £100,000 to put towards specialist treatment options.
They wrote on the appeal page: “Jordan is a genuinely kind, caring and selfless person and is loved by all that know him.
“Jordan has always been a hard working individual, he studied at Peterhead Academy and became Head Boy in his senior year, then went on to university to study International Business Management.
“Jordan is in his final year at university but had to defer the last term due to the debilitating headaches he was experiencing.
“He is due to pick back up the course after the summer break.
“We have brightened up his room with some photos of his family, friends, pets and of course his cars, to keep his spirits high.
“Jordan continues to be as manerable as ever and even thanks the nurses for doing his bloods with a smile on his face.
“Please look deep in your heart and consider donating as much as you can afford to help us give Jordan a better chance of living with this awful disease.”
