‘Immense support and assistance’

Dr Gomo, an environmental and water resources scientist at Scottish Water and a PhD graduate of the University of Dundee, is survived by her husband, Richard, and their young daughter.

Her family said in a statement that the “immense support and assistance” had provided “great comfort.”

They thanked a number of people and organisations, including the first responders on the scene, the Scottish Government, St Andrew’s Cathedral in Dundee, and Sandy’s Bar in Lochee, which raised more than £11,000 for Dr Gomo’s family.

“The Gomo and Nyatsanza families would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the immense support and assistance they received during the repatriation process and the funeral for Dr Gomo,” the family’s statement said.

“The guidance and resources offered by these institutions and individuals were invaluable in navigating the complexities of the repatriation process.

“We truly appreciate the care and respect with which you handled every detail.

“The contributions from well-wishers, including the Scottish community and beyond, have made a significant difference, helping to make this difficult journey more bearable. Your kindness has not gone unnoticed and has genuinely touched our hearts.”
