A man has won the ‘Euromillions of cheese’ after picking up a Too Good to Go bag from discount supermarket Aldi.
BBC Radio 1 breakfast DJ Greg James made the quip after responding to a viral social media post showing an excited customer in Fife receiving 36 blocks of cheese from the supermarket.
Too Good to Go offers shoppers the chance to pick up items at a cut-price rate, normally at the end of the day in a bid to help reduce food waste.
The contents of the bag are unknown until customers arrive at the store.
The shopper picked up a bag from Aldi’s McKenzie Street store in Kirkcaldy for £3.30 and was left stunned by its contents.
A video shared on X showed the customer received 36 blocks of cheese as well as a Korean-style BBQ beef curry.
The customer says in the video: “So here is the Too Good to Go haul, we’ve got a nice curry – Korean style BBQ beef – what else did we get? We got 36 blocks of cheese.”
The video has racked up over 2.5m views on Twitter and the caption reads: “Got a £3.30 too good to go bag from Aldi. I could not have expected this.”
Popular DJ James responded to the video saying the man had won the cheese version of the Euromillions lottery.
Aldi joined in on the fun, responding to the customer’s tweet saying: “2024 is cancelled, Blair won.”
