Firefighters are currently tackling a blaze in Dundee which broke out in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Emergency services were alerted to the incident in Whitehall Street at around 5.30am on December 28. It is understood the fire started in an open area before spreading to a nearby shop.
Police confirmed the High Street/Nethergate remains closed between Union Street and Crichton Street with no vehicle access and locals are asked to avoid the area.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 5.30am on Sunday, 28 December, to reports of a dwelling fire at Whitehall Street, Dundee.
“Operations Control initially mobilised two appliances to the scene and on arrival firefighters requested the assistance of a further four pumps. Specialist appliances were deployed, making the total of six pumps and specialist resources on scene.
“Crews currently remain on scene and are working to extinguish a fire affecting the basement.
“No casualties have been reported.”
