A fire has engulfed a popular fish and chip shop in Aberdeenshire.
The blaze broke out at The Quayside in the fishing village of Gourdon, around 12 miles north of Montrose on the A92, on Saturday afternoon.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was called at 4.32pm after the kitchen was set alight by a fryer.
Four appliances were sent to the scene and the last pump left shortly after 6pm. No injuries were reported.
The chip shop has closed while the owners assess the damage.
“Unfortunately, we experienced a fire in our kitchen today,” a statement posted on social media said.
“Thankfully, no staff or customers were harmed.
“As a result, we will be temporarily closed while we assess the damage and begin repairs. We’ll do everything we can to reopen as soon as possible and will keep everyone updated.
“A huge thank you to the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service crews from Inverbervie and Stonehaven for their quick response and professionalism in containing the fire and limiting damage to the rest of the building.
We truly appreciate everyone’s support and understanding at this time.”
