Firefighter taken to hospital after falling while attending 'deliberate' flat fire

Police Scotland said enquiries are ongoing and that the fire is being treated as 'wilful'.

A firefighter has been taken to hospital after falling while attending an incident in Peterhead.

Emergency services were called to reports of a fire in a block of flats on King Street around 4.20am on Tuesday.

Fire crews were able to bring the blaze under control and the incident is now being treated as wilful by police.

A 58-year-old male firefighter was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary after being injured in a fall.

King Street remains closed between Ugie Street and Windmill Street and a number of properties have been evacuated.

Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Enquiries remain ongoing however the fire is being treated as wilful.”
