Firefighters battling well-developed blaze at derelict building in AberdeenFubar News

Firefighters are on the scene of a well-developed blaze at a building in Aberdeen.

Emergency services were called to Ruby Place after the alarm was raised at around 1.37pm on Wednesday.

Six engines and specialist resources were dispatched to the fire on the third floor of the building.

Crews remain on the scene.

The surrounding roads in the city centre have been closed due to the incident. Members of the public have been urged to avoid the area.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 1.37pm on Wednesday, January 28, to reports of a derelict building fire at Ruby Place, Aberdeen.

“Operations Control mobilised six appliances plus specialist resources to the scene and firefighters work to contain a well-developed fire affecting the 3rd floor of a four-storey commercial building.

“Crews are currently still on scene.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Ruby Place, Crimon Place, North Silver Street and part of Golden Square in Aberdeen are closed due to a fire at a building.

“Emergency services are in attendance, and the public is asked to avoid the area.”
