Firefighters have been tackling a well developed blaze at a former primary school in Aberdeen.
Smoke filled the city’s skyline after the fire took hold of the disused Brimmond Primary on Inverurie Road at around 10pm on Wednesday.
Crews were fighting the flames until they were eventually stood down just after 7am on Thursday.
Police were also in attendance and the A96 was closed northbound between Oldeldrum Road and Stoneywood Road to allow for emergency vehicle access.
Officers say it is likely to be closed for sometime and diversions are available via Oldmeldrum Road and Stoneywood Road.
In a statement released in the early hours on Thursday police advised residents to keep doors and windows shut due to the amount of smoke in the air
