Drone footage from the scene showed a large plume of smoke rising from buildings at the landfill site.

On Monday morning, SFRS said four appliances were still at the scene dampening down hot spots, also, being assisted by a digger to move waste.

A spokesperson said: “There are still appliances there, they are still dampening down.

“A digger is there to assist with the removal of waste.

“That will be the case for the foreseeable today.”

Police have said the fire is not believed to be suspicious and there are no reported injuries.
