Five men and one woman arrested in domestic abuse crackdown

Five men aged between 33 and 56 and a 24-year-old woman have been arrested and charged.

Six people have been arrested as part of a crackdown on domestic abuse in Aberdeen.

The five men and one woman were all charged over outstanding incidents of alleged abuse in the city after being lifted on Wednesday and Thursday.

It came during a two-day police operation to crackdown on the issue that officers say is a “priority”.

Two of the men, a 33-year-old and a 34-year-old, appeared at court on Friday.

The other three men, aged 35, 35 and 56, and the 24-year-old woman were all released on an undertaking to appear before Aberdeen Sheriff Court at a later date.

Inspector Graeme Moir said: “Tackling domestic abuse remains a priority for Police Scotland and we are committed to working with our partners to reduce the harm it causes to all persons involved.

“Police Scotland will proactively target perpetrators, and support victims to prevent domestic abuse from damaging the lives of victims, and their families, including children who too often experience the abuse.
