Five people have been taken to hospital and a road has been closed after a two-car crash in Aberdeenshire.

Emergency services were alerted to the crash that happened on the A92 north of Johnshaven at around 8am on Monday.

The female driver of one of the cars and two teenage back-seat passengers were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

The front seat female passenger was taken to Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, as well as the female driver of the other car.

Police confirmed at 2pm the road remained closed and urged drivers to avoid the area.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “The A92 remains closed in both directions north of Johnshaven following a crash involving two cars which was reported around 8am on Monday, January 20, 2025.

“Emergency services attended, and the female driver of one of the cars and two teenage rear-seat passengers were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

“The front seat female passenger was taken to Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, where the female driver of the other car was also taken.

“Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use an alternative route.”
