Five-vehicle crash blocks A96 in both directions during rush hour

Traffic Scotland reported that traffic is building in both directions and police are currently in attendance. 

Five vehicle crash blocks major A96 road at Coply between Aberdeen and Inverness Google Maps

A major road between Aberdeen and Inverness was blocked in both directions because of a five-vehicle crash which occurred during rush hour.

The collision, which happened shortly before 8am on Thursday, took place on the A96 between Inverurie and Huntly at Coply.

As a result of the collision, two people have been taken to hospital.

The northbound lane remains closed and drivers in the area should expect delays.

Traffic Scotland reported that traffic was building in both directions and police are currently in attendance. 

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a crash involving five vehicles on the A96 at Kirkton of Culsalmond, Colpy, around 7.50am on Thursday, May 19, 2022.

“Emergency services are in attendance and two people have been taken to hospital for treatment. 

“The northbound lane is currently closed.”
