A pensioner has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries following a car crash in Forfar.

Emergency crews including Police Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS) were dispatched to the scene on Kirriemuir Road shortly before 7am on Friday following reports of the incident involving a Skoda Citigo.

Road policing officers shut the route from Brechin Road junction to the A926 roundabout for more than five hours while critical care teams administered treatment.

An investigation into the crash remains ongoing.

Sergeant Kevin Wilkie of the Perth Road Policing Unit said: “Our investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing and I would appeal to any witnesses, or anyone with information that may assist our enquiries to contact us.

“I am also keen to gather any dash-cam footage and would ask anyone who holds this to please get in touch.”
Information should be passed to 101 with the incident number 0638 of August 25.”
