Four teenagers have been charged in connection with extortion and assault after a private school teacher in Aberdeen was arrested .
On Wednesday, February 26, a 23-year-old man, who is a teacher at Robert Gordon’s College, was taken into custody for an alleged “online communications offence”.
Officers have since charged four boys, three aged 15 and another aged 16, in connection with extortion.
A report is due to be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Four male youths, three aged 15 and one aged 16, have been arrested and charged in connection with assault and extortion in the Aberdeen area.
“A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
Robert Gordon’s College launched an internal investigation and said it was aware of a video circulating on social media.
The private school, which charges senior school fees of £18,000 per year, said the temporary staff member had been suspended.
A spokesperson for Robert Gordon’s College said: “The school is aware of a video circulating on social media. The temporary staff member involved has been suspended.
“This is now a matter for Police Scotland and it would be inappropriate for the school to comment any further.”
