Four women and a man have been left in hospital after a crash in Fife shut down a road for six hours.
Emergency services were called to Cupar Road in Kettlebridge at around 6.30am on Sunday.
The road was closed for just under six hours before being reopened at around 12.25pm.
Four women, aged 20, 24, 37 and 40, and a man, aged 37, were taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee for treatment.
Their current condition is unknown at this time.
The 37-year-old man has been charged in connection with a driving offence.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.35am on Sunday, September 29, 2024, we were called to a report of a two-vehicle road crash on Cupar Road, Kettlebridge.
“One man, aged 37 and four women, aged 20, 24, 37 and 40, were taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee following the crash.
“The road reopened at 12.25pm.
“The 37-year-old man will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with a driving offence.”
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 6.58am on Sunday, September 29, to reports of a road traffic collision involving two cars on the A914 at Cupar Road, Kettlebridge.
“Operations Control immediately mobilised two appliances to the scene and five casualties were transported to hospital.
“Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”
