A 12-year-old girl has been left “terrified” after her head was stomped on and kicked in a park on Wednesday.
The assault took place in Dundee before 8.30pm. Footage of the incident shows the girl on the floor and the assailants targeting her head with kicks and stomps.
After the attack, the schoolgirl made her way home, where her mum was alerted by screams at the front door.
She took her child to Ninewells Hospital where she was checked over by medical staff.
The mum told STV News: “When she got through the door, all I heard was screaming and it was one of the screams that you never want to hear.
“She was breaking her heart and told me she had been jumped. They were taking turns stamping on her head.
“We took her to the hospital last night. Her hair was all matted and the doctors checked her head because that is where she was kicked.”
The assailants filmed the attack on their phones, with the footage then shared online.
The mum has been left “disgusted” by the ordeal and believes her child will not be the last to be assaulted in a park and have the incident shared on social media.
“My daughter is now absolutely terrified,” she said.
“She doesn’t want to leave the room without me. I feel absolutely disgusted that the attack was filmed.
“My family has been left in so much pain after this. It is going to take a long time for my daughter to get over this.
“I have seen videos upon videos of kids getting battered, that was my worst fear as a parent.
“We’re all scared as parents and something needs to be done to stop this. My child is not the first and she probably won’t be the last.”
Police have confirmed they are at the early stage of their investigation.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.35pm on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, officers received a report of a girl having been assaulted at a park in Dundee.
“Enquiries are at an early stage.”
