A glider pilot has been airlifted to hospital after his aircraft split in two during a crash at an airfield in Kinross.
The 70-year-old is understood to have suffered “minor injuries” after a mechanical fault forced the plane into an emergency controlled landing near the village of Scotlandwell.
The aircraft took off from the nearby Scottish Gliding Centre hours before the incident, but no one was seriously hurt.
Images from the scene show the glider smashed in the the field on Friday afternoon while emergency medical personnel tend to the pilot.
He was later transported to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for further treatment.
An investigation is under way to establish the circumstances around the crash.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5pm on Friday, July 8, police were called to a report of a glider having crashed in a field in Scotlandwell, Kinross.
“Emergency services attended and the 70-year-old male pilot was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh as a precaution.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
