Aberdeen’s best rap and hip hop stars are set to take the stage in a first of a kind event for the Granite City.
Heatwave will give music lovers the chance to hear the city’s emerging rap stars at OGV Taproom on August 12.
Artists, including headliner Yxng STUNNA, M2 ABZ, Josh McLean, Bernie, Chachy, DeeEss, MD, Symi x Nezza and Kuama, say they’re ready to make Aberdeen a force in UK rap.
Organiser, Matty Lusher, who works with the artists under Between The Lines, says Heatwave will showcase the best the city has to offer.
He said: “Heatwave is just a showcase, it’s showcasing Aberdeen’s rap talent that up until now has gone silent – no one knows about it.
“It’s just trying to get us out there.
“It’s important to showcase anyone’s talent. Just because we’re in Aberdeen which isn’t normally known for stuff like doesn’t mean it should go unseen.
“We want to be a place where people come for UK music, and Aberdeen hasn’t ever been seen for that.”
The event was organised jointly by Between The Lines Productions and Cold Grey Music, who have picked a line-up for music fans consisting of a handful of the city’s emerging talent.
Headliner Yxng STUNNA is already making waves in the US and has ambitions to perform all over the world.
“I always do well in performances, and I feel like the music speaks for itself,” he said.
“I hope to take over the whole UK – that’s really my goal. Not just the UK, the whole world as well but the UK is a start.
“I want to be the biggest name from Aberdeen, it’s not really known for its rappers.”
Mysterious artist M2 – who wears a mask to keep his identity hidden – says it’s all about creating a different sound.
He said: “It has my own sauce in it – it doesn’t sound like anything else.”
Fellow musician Josh McLean hopes to take on festivals across the country.
“What I am trying to offer people is different, something that’s relatable and authentic,” he added.
“I’d like to sell out TRNSMT and I’d like to perform at all the big festivals.”
The team have already got a catalogue of music videos, something they do while going to work or college.
Rapper Chachy said: “We do a lot of work, different shoots, different writing sessions to get this all one but hopefully it’s all worth it.
“Currently I should be doing a haircut right now I am a barber down at The Green but I’m here for the interview, it’s things like that, it’s hard to juggle.”
The event will be held at OGV Taproom in Aberdeen city centre on Saturday August 12.
