Homes have been evacuated as six fire engines battle a blaze at a terrace in Aberdeen.

Emergency services were called to Summerfield Terrace at around 9.07am on Tuesday following reports of a dwelling fire.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service dispatched six engines and speciality vehicles in an effort to extinguish the blaze.

Videos on social media show flames bursting from the roof and smoke billowing over the city.

A number of neighbouring properties have been evacuated as fire crews attempt to calm the flames.

Police Scotland has urged members of the public to avoid the area.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 9.07am on Tuesday, April 7 to reports of a dwelling fire on Summerfield Terrace, Aberdeen.

“Operations Control mobilised six appliances and specialty vehicles to the scene.

“Crews remain in attendance.”

It is unclear if anyone has been injured during the incident

A Police Scotland spokesperson added: “Summerfield Terrace in Aberdeen is closed following a fire reported to police around 9.20am on Tuesday, April 7.

“Emergency services are in attendance and a number of properties have been evacuated.

“The public is advised to avoid the area.”
