Police in Dundee are hunting a man who was wearing a black balaclava after an early evening attack on a woman in a park.

The 46-year-old victim was making her way through Powrie Park, in Fintry, near to Cheviot Crescent, at around 7.25pm on Wednesday, January 4, when she was sexually assaulted.

The suspect is described as a 6ft tall middle-aged man of a heavy or athletic build with broad shoulders.

He was wearing a black balaclava, a black zip-up hoodie, black jogging bottoms and black and white trainers.

He made off in the direction of Jack Martin Way.

Officers have returned to the scene to speak with pedestrians and drivers, in an effort to glean more information.

CCTV and door-to-door enquiries have seen police identify a number of witnesses who have since been spoken to.

But officers have renewed their appeal for help as the investigation continues.

Detective inspector Graeme Wishart of the Divisional Rape Investigation Team said: “Through our extensive enquiries we are aware there were a number of people walking, cycling and out with their dogs in the park.

“I would ask anyone who was in the park at the time and has not spoken to police to come forward.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 3097 of January 4, 2023. Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.”
