Police are hunting for a man who fled the scene of an attempted murder on a bike in St Andrews.
Officers were called to a report of a 40-year-old man injured after being seriously assaulted on Boase Avenue around 1.45am on Wednesday.
Police say the man responsible is described as white, around 30 years of age and of slim build with dark-coloured hair and a beard. He made off on a bike.
Emergency services attended, and the 40-year-old man was taken to Ninewells Hospital for treatment for a stab injury.
Hospital staff describe his condition as stable.
Detective inspector Karen Muirhead said: “Our enquiries are at an early stage and officers are in the area gathering information and CCTV footage to establish the exact circumstances surrounding this incident.
“Anyone with information, dash-cam or personal footage which could be relevant is asked to contact officers through 101, quoting incident number 0203 of December 3.
“Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.
“Additional police patrols are being carried out in the area to provide public reassurance, and we urge anyone with concerns to speak to officers.”
