Hunt for teen after scooter stolen from young boy in 'unprovoked' assault in Dundee

A hunt for a teenager has been launched after an electric scooter was stolen from a young boy in Dundee.

Officers were alerted to the “unprovoked” robbery which took place at the junction of Finavon Street and Fintry Drive on Tuesday evening.

Police said a white car pulled up beside the 13-year-old and a young male passenger exited demanding he hand over the scooter.

The young victim was assaulted as he tried to leave, before the suspect made off on the scooter along Fintry Drive, followed by the white car.

Officers said the victim was uninjured in the incident but left “shaken”.

The force described the stolen scooter as a black KugooM4 Pro, with green, red and blue lights.

The suspect has been described as around 15 to 16 years of age with a tanned complexion and dark, wet hair.

Police said the suspect is between 5ft 2in and 5ft 5in tall and was wearing a black North Face puffy jacket as well as black joggers.

The suspect has also been described as speaking with a “deep” voice.

Police are urging anyone with information on the incident to come forward.

Detective constable Danielle Hunter, from Dundee CID, said: “This unprovoked attack and robbery left the young victim shaken, but thankfully uninjured.

“We are carrying out extensive enquiries and are appealing for anyone with information on the robbery or the scooter to please come forward.

“We are also keen to hear from any motorists who were in the area around the time and may have potential dashcam footage.”
