A man has been charged after children and parents were left “shaken up” when a car crashed into a nursery building in Aberdeenshire.
The Stepping Stones childcare centre in Inverurie will remain closed on Friday due to damage caused by the vehicle striking the building on Wednesday morning.
The nursery said counselling would be made available to youngsters following the incident on Burghmuir Circle, which resulted in one person being injured.
Two appliances from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and a crew from the Scottish Ambulance Service joined Police Scotland at the scene.
A 62-year-old man has been reported to the procurator fiscal.
A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed: “A 62-year-old man has been charged in connection with road traffic offences and is subject of a report to the procurator fiscal.”
Nursery bosses said parents would be provided with regular updates online, but that the facility would remain closed for the remainder of the week.
“As you are all aware there was an incident at nursery this morning (Wednesday) involving a car, firstly I would like to reassure you all that everyone is fine, a little bit shaken up,” a statement posted on Facebook read.
“We are going to be accessing counselling for children, parents and staff.
“Unfortunately due to the damage we are unable to reopen nursery until repairs have been made, we are definitely going to be closed Thursday and Friday and we will be providing regular updates via email, Facebook and parents zone.
“If you would like to come in and talk to me or discuss any concerns you may have then please get in touch via email or phone.”
