An investigation remains ongoing six days after a body was found at the side of the A90.

The body was discovered amid the search for Kenneth Unsworth, who was last seen on November 20 leaving the town of Huyton near Liverpool.

Detectives believed he had travelled north to Tayside or Aberdeenshire.

On Wednesday, police were alerted to the discovery of a body near the dual carriageway between Brechin and Laurencekirk at around 12.20pm.

Formal identification is yet to take place, however, the 46-year-old’s family has been informed.

The A90 near Marykirk was partially closed for two days after emergency services were alerted to the body.

Police Scotland has confirmed that enquiries into the unexplained death are ongoing.
