Jewellery stolen from houses by masked men in spate of break-ins

Jewellery and money has been stolen by three masked men believed to be responsible for four break-ins targeting high value items last week.

Police are investigating the burglaries that took place in Perth and Dundee between Sunday and Thursday and have urged the public to be extra vigilant and review home-security measures.

The first break was in Newhall Gardens in Dundee at sometime between 5pm and 7pm on December 5, the next was on the city’s Fitzgerald Way two days later between 4pm and 8pm and the third was on Clayhills Drive just after midnight on Wednesday.

The most recent took place in Bankfoot, Perth when a property in Innewan Gardens was targeted at around 6pm on Thursday.

Three men wearing black masks were seen in the area of the most recent break-in and police are also keen to trace a navy blue van in connection with the incident.

Officers say all four break-ins are potentially linked and are appealing for information.

Detective Sharon Swankie, of Dundee CID, said: “These break-ins involved the theft of high value items, including jewellery and cash, and we are investigating if these incidents are linked.

“We are advising people to review their home security measures, to leave lights on where possible and make sure that any alarms or CCTV are in working order.

“In the meantime there will be ongoing focussed patrols while our enquiries continue.

“We are asking anyone who may have seen anything suspicious to get in touch. Any detail, no matter how small, could help with our investigation.

“Likewise, if you have dash-cam footage that shows anything suspicious, that could also assist with our enquiries, so please contact us.”
